Here’s a quick picture to tide everyone over until I have time for a longer update:

Chugging Along

Standard

Things continue to go well with Evie.  She’s sleeping well at night and seems to be developing a habit of napping for 2-3 hours each afternoon.  She’s also getting more and more control of her head, and likes to look around at things with a real sense of purpose.

We continue to force her to do “tummy time” so that she’ll be able to crawl soon (though I’m still not convinced that teaching her mobility is a good idea).  She doesn’t enjoy it, but is getting better nonetheless:

I assume in a few weeks she’ll be doing acrobatics across the room.  In the meantime, we’ll have to settle for this:

And, of course, she continues her lifelong pursuit of adorableness:

Awesome Photos!

Standard

We received the drive with the pictures that Virginia took of Evie.  First off, because Virginia is so awesome, you should take a moment to “Like” her Facebook page.  Go on, do it.  I’ll wait…

You can also check out her professional webpage, which is full of great pictures.  Again, I’ll wait…

Okay.  She sent us a bunch, and I can’t upload them all, so I had to pick the best.  It wasn’t easy since they are all amazing, but here goes (they’re so good, I’m not even going to write sarcastic captions):

Thanks Virginia!

New Room!

Standard

It’s been a while since I’ve had time to post, in large part because last week I had Evie duty while Norie was at work, and this week I returned to teaching and taking classes.

In the midst of all of that, Evie laughed for the first time!  It was, of course, adorable.  She kind of sounds like she’s fake laughing, but I’m assuming she isn’t (and if she is, then I witnessed her first intentional act of obnoxiousness, which is equally exciting).  I haven’t been able to get her to do it again, but I’m sure it’ll happen.  I’ll do my best to get a video of it, but in the meantime, everyone will have to settle for the long sought after but only now acquired poop face video:

The other big news is that we finally got the expansion to our apartment.  We have a new living room that looks like this:

What this picture doesn't capture is the three stories of vertical space.

This week Evie also met both of her new baby sitters.  Our friend Laura takes care of her on Mondays and Fridays, and if this video is any indication they’ll get along just swell:

Evie slept through almost all of our other sitter’s shift, but I’m sure they’ll have loads of fun together next time.

Through all of this, Evie has gone on being her regular adorable self:

Virginia sent us the flash drive with the pictures she took of Evie – it should arrive in the mail soon.  In the meantime she sent along a preview.  If they’re all even close to this good, we’ll be very, very happy!

It’s only been a little over two months and Evie’s already had it with both of us.

New Adventures

Standard

We decided to bring in the new year in style.  By which we mean we fell asleep around 8, woke up at 11:30, sucked down some champagne, and that was that.  We did manage to get a few pictures, though:

Yesterday, I went to a white elephant gift exchange and came away with the greatest gift ever:

Then, today we decided to take Evie on a few adventures.  We went to D’Antons and Evie’s first trip to a restaurant was a success.  She just chilled and then went to sleep:

“Whew, that was exhausting.”

Then, we decided to try giving her her first shower.  How did she react?

“No sir, I didn’t like it.”

With all of this excitement, Evie needed a chance to blow off a little steam.  She did so by beating one toy owl with another toy owl.  Makes sense to me.
