The holiday season has begun, so there will be a string of firsts. Evie got to join the students at Sid in a Thanksgiving feast (in fine Thanksgiving tradition, she ate until she barfed). She got to see and be seen, which was great since she was adorable in her Turkey outfit. Here’s proof:
And of course, she got to hang out with the family:
It’s hard to believe that this time last month we were sitting in the hospital waiting for Evie to arrive. It’s also hard to believe that in one month she’s gone from this:
“What the hell just happened?”
“I love mommy and daddy thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much!”
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we decided to deck Evie out in a special outfit. Note the following sequence of events:
In honor of her official 1-Month birthday I thought I’d do a little side-by-side comparison of Evie’s baby pictures and my own from the same time (thanks, dad, for sending them).
There might be a slight resemblance. You be the judge:
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a 1-Month Birthday post without an assortment of random pictures:
It’s hard to believe that it’s been four weeks already. She doesn’t look at day over three weeks and two days.
Norie bought Evie an outfit that I maintain is just not practical for Houston, even in the winter. She insists it’s adorable and will keep her warm. I maintain that the outfit would only be appropriate if we planned on keeping Evie in the freezer. You can decide for yourself:
In other news, Evie’s been pretty fussy of late – nothing too bad and hopefully just a phase. One thing that often helps to calm her down is music. She has good taste – we’ve learned that she’s a pretty big fan of Kermit the Frog and The Beatles:
And, of course, the adorable but hopelessly impractical snowsuit isn’t the only outfit we’ve decked her out in. Here is more proof of her cuteness:
Lest anyone think the R2-D2 outfit wasn’t something Evie approved of 100%, let me show you how she reacts to ridiculous outfits that she isn’t into:
But when not being dressed up to suit her parents’ whims, Evie has lots of adorable outfits:
And, finally, though the camera work is less than perfect, here’s Evie learning to hold her head up:
My dad came to visit and meet the new baby, and Norie’s dad and step mom made another visit as well. Evie has gotten lots of grandpa time!
In addition to all the grandpas, Evie also got to meet my good friend Liz, who is in town for a few days. They seemed to hit off:
But as great as so many of these pictures are, Evie has decided that none are as eye catching as her favorite pillow:
I certainly don’t want to suggest that Evie has already lived her greatest moment just two weeks in, but she has her work cut out for her if she’s going to top this:
And, of course, there are other, (sort of) non R2D2 related pictures as well:
I decided to randomly make a video of Evie, figuring that on average she does something cute about every 3.4 seconds. Except for the time I decided to video tape her. But then, miraculously, her refusal to do anything becomes its own form of adorable:
In other news, she’s been to the doctor again. She gained a full pound since her last visit, which might not seem like much, but she only weighed 5lbs 15 ounces the last time, so she gained more than a sixth of her body weight. She’s also grown to from 18 inches to 21 inches. No wonder she eats so much.
All this growing means that this will be the last of her pictures wearing her newborn clothes. That would be sad, except that the next size of clothes contains some of her most awesome outfits. R2-D2 onesie pics are soon to come…
