Baby Shower #1

Standard

Fondren Library threw a baby shower for Norie (and I showed up for a bit, too).  Once again, Evie cleaned up.  But before I get to that, it’s imperative that I put up a picture that will surely make Evie proud.  This weekend Sid threw their annual 80s party.  I reprised my role as a member of Devo while Norie… well, take a look:

We've been lying - Norie's not pregnant, she's just been drinking a ton of beer.

Anyway, on to the gifts!  First off, she got a whole array of new outfits:

As awesome as all of these are, they still can't compare to the R2-D2 outfit.

Then there is the assortments of blankets:

Why don't they make adult blankets this soft?

Next up are all things diaper:

Of all the gifts, the "Butt Paste" is easily the most fun to say.

And, finally, we have and assortment of other awesome stuff:

Including a mini Maurice Sendak collection!

All in all, it was a great shower and we appreciate everyone and everything that went into throwing it.  Thanks everybody!

Mini-Baby!

Standard

All continues to go well.

Last week we attended a workshop on infant CPR.  They gave us an inflatable baby doll labelled “mini-baby” (even though it seems to me to be just as big a real baby) as well as a video so that we can teach other caretakers how to do the CPR should the need arise.

So, we should probably put the inflatable baby back in the box and make sure it’s ready if we need it again…

OR…

We could take a bunch of pictures of mini-baby in dangerous and inappropriate situations.

Yeah, let’s do that.

Lest anyone think we don't love our new mini-baby.

We’re thinking we might need to baby proof the apartment a bit better:

You'd think Norie, who seems to be sitting on the coach, would have intervened. She didn't.

Drunk college students’ve got nothing on mini-baby:

Sitting on the counter seems like a good move, too.

We want to teach mini-baby the value of hard work, so Norie took it to her office:

A little paper cutter never hurt anybody... oh, wait...

It’s important that mini-baby learns about archiving first hand:

What could be safer than a box designed for long-term storage.

It’s also a good idea to keep a digital copy of mini-baby:

If it looks like it hurts that's because it does.

We also want to be sure to respect mini-baby’s privacy:

We wouldn't want to leave any evidence of what we've been doing.

Plus, we wouldn’t want to leave any evidence of what we’ve been doing.

And of course, after all this activity, it’s important to give mini-baby a bath:

This is how you keep babies clean, right?

We are clearly going to be great parents.

Evie Continues to Clean Up

Standard

The semester is in full swing, hence the lack of posts lately.  But while it’s been a busy time for us, Evie continues to do well.  Very well.  For instance, the return of students to the building brought with it a bunch of awesome baby gifts.

First up, from Allison Connell, we got some crucial Rice gear:

The one in the middle is my favorite - though Norie objected to the notion of throwing Evie like a football.

A few days later we got an amazing set of home-made blankets from Gina Threlkeld (that’s the same Gina Threlkeld who made my awesome R2-D2 hat).  Also in the picture is one of the greatest onesies ever created:

The combination in this picture is my way of saying "Gina rocks!"

Next up, from Norie’s dad and Coleen, some more outfits, including one that features Norie’s favorite: elephants!

The elephant hat is super cute and adorable. The Bucky's hat is... red.

But we haven’t just gotten outfits.  Evie also got some new books.  Norie got the one about Grandma’s Gumbo when she was on her trip to New Orleans.  The others came from her coworker Dara and from Coleen:

All the white covers are just a coincidence.

And, finally, from her dad, Evie picked up the most important sports related onesies she could get:

Let's just hope she doesn't get any of Peyton Manning's funk.
